Here is a copy of the Roles & Responsibilities that are part of Schedule A in your casual employment contract. These have recently been updated to include our four new services. Use the links below to go straight to a particular area.

Dog Walking - Standard Walks

Dog Walking Pet Angels are responsible for taking the Client’s dog(s) for a walk on a lead in the Client’s local area.  The Pet Angel is responsible for finding a suitable route or routes to walk the dog(s) for the required length of time (30, 45 or 60 minutes) as specified by the Client booking.  It is Pet Angels’ policy that dogs must be kept on their leads for safety purposes.  If a Client wishes their dog to be taken off lead, then they must provide the Pet Angel permission to do so.  The Client’s dog(s) would be taken off-lead in Council designated dog exercise areas only.

Pet Angels are responsible for arriving at the Client’s property at the agreed time.  The Pet Angel will follow the Client’s instructions for accessing their property and their dog(s), and the Pet Angel will follow the training guidelines provided by the Company.

The Pet Angel will carry Pet Angel poo bags with them and will clean up after the dog(s) in their care.  The Pet Angel will ensure that the bag is disposed of appropriately.

When the Client’s dog(s) is returned to its home, the Pet Angel will ensure that its paws are dry and its coat is mud free before it enters the Client’s home.  Any lead or collar items will be returned to their rightful place.  Before leaving the Pet Angel will check that the dog(s) has water and is secure and safe, ensuring that all gates are locked.

The Pet Angel is responsible for leaving a Pet Angels note on Pet Angels note pad stationery in the client’s home or mail box letting them know that they have visited and the dog(s) is well.  The Pet Angel will wear their Pet Angels cap and any other standard uniform items provided, throughout the course of the assignment.

If for any reason the Pet Angel is not able to meet the agreed date or time, they will contact the Client to see if a replacement is required.  If so, the Pet Angel will communicate with the Company so that arrangements can be made for a replacement Pet Angel.  If the weather makes walking unsafe for the Pet Angel and the dog, then the Pet Angel will contact the owner to make sure they are aware that their dog won’t be walked due to weather conditions.  Where this is the case, the Pet Angel must also contact the Company.

The main objective is to stop dogs pulling, as well as pay attention to the walker and follow basic road rules.

Pet Angels will be trained to deliver Lead Etiquette, and will follow the training guidelines provided by Pet Angels HQ.

Lead Etiquette is a 6 week programme, consisting of 6 x 60min dog walking sessions plus one hour follow up session if required.

  • The first session is about meeting the Client, their dog and reviewing the issues with the dog’s lead walking behaviours.  The dog will be taken on their first walk to review the issues in detail.
  • Sessions 2-4 involve walking the Client’s dog, and using Lead Etiquette techniques to teach them to be better behaved.
  • Sessions 5-6 are about teaching the Client the Lead Etiquette techniques, so that they can continue to use them when walking their dog(s).
  • A one hour follow up session may be required if the client is having trouble implementing the lead etiquette techniques. This is included in the fee.

Lead Etiquette is taught on a one-to-one basis only.  If a Client has 2 dogs, then they will learn Lead Etiquette separately before being brought together for their walks.

The Pet Angel will leave a note updating the client of the dog’s progress after each session.
